BRIDGING THE GAP: Cotabato Light VP and Resident Manager Crisente M. Ferolino handed the signed MOA to DepEd SchoolS’ Division Superintendent Dr. Melinda S. Maruhom.  The Aboitiz group through AGAPP foundation will build school buildings throughout the country.

In support to Aklat, Gabay, Aruga tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (AGAPP) Foundation, the Aboitiz Foundation (AFI) will provide fund for the construction of at least one pre-school building with two classrooms throughout the country where Aboitiz company operates.  AFI aims to put up 45 school buildings – 26 this year and 19 more for next year.

In Cotabato City, Cotabato Light and Power Company (CLPC) had chosen Cotabato City Central Pilot Elementary School (CCCPS) as the recipient of such building. In fact, a Memorandum Of Agreement (MOA) was sealed on June 10 between CLPC's VP & Resident Manager Crisente Ferolino and DepEd's XII Superintendent Dr. Melinda Maruhom, together with Cotabato City Central Pilot Elementary School (CCCPS) Principal Mr. Wahabi Guiani and CLPC HR/Comrel Officer Anna Lea Lee Nataño for the implementation of this project.

“We are honored to be the recipient of this “gift”.  Indeed, we are in dire need of pre-school classrooms, especially today with the increasing number of pupils. We greatly appreciate Aboitiz and Cotabato Light in finding ways of providing assistance and better solutions to schools and students in any way they can. Thank you!” Principal Guiani said.

“We are glad to be of help and in service to our community. Certainly, this project will be of great use for the welfare and education of the pupils. We are happy to have one AGAPP school here in Cotabato City.” Mr. Ferolino enthusiastically replied.

The foundations had appropriated Php 1,094,584 as project costs, and expected to be completed on the last week of July, 2011.  The winning contractor was Compact II – Gencon, Incorporated. The AGAPP foundation is headed by Presidential sister Pinky Aquino-Abellada.
