Cotabato Light Engages Cotabato City SP Officials in “Power 101” Information Session

Cotabato City – Demonstrating its commitment to transparency and public education, Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) conducted a “Power 101” information session with the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Cotabato City, including Vice Mayor Johair Madag, on July 29, 2025, at Cotabato Light’s Office, Sinsuat Avenue, Cotabato City.
The session provided city officials with a clearer understanding of Cotabato Light’s operations, regulatory responsibilities, and the challenges involved in power distribution. Topics discussed included power rate components, billings, factors of planned and unplanned interruptions, the role of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), and ongoing service improvement initiatives.
“This session is a vital space for principled dialogue, illuminating power dynamics and guiding us toward informed decisions that uplift the Cotabato community,” Vice Mayor Johair Madag emphasized, urging transparent cooperation between the LGU and utility providers in pursuit of moral and responsive governance.”
Chairman of the Committee on Energy, Hon. Michael Datumanong, also expressed support for Cotabato Light’s initiative.
“As chair of the energy committee, I welcome this kind of engagement. It’s crucial for us to understand the intricacies of electricity service so we can craft responsive local policies and help address the concerns of our constituents more effectively,” he shared.
Cotabato Light’s team shared technical and regulatory insights, while also addressing questions from the council members on billing, franchise boundaries, and upcoming infrastructure projects.
“This engagement strengthens our partnership with the local government and supports our goal of ensuring that public officials and the communities they represent are well-informed about how the power system works,” said Valentin S. Saludes III, President & COO of Cotabato Light.
